Force Technology, Agro Food Park 15, 8200 Aarhus – mødelokale 9
Tirsdag den 14. april 2026 kl. 09.00–15.45
Force Technology, Venlighedsvej 4, 2970 Hørsholm
Tilmeldingsfrist: Torsdag den 9. april kl. 12.00.
Theme
Today’s programme spans from fundamental EMC principles to advanced measurement methods in the 18–40 GHz range, including radiated emissions and e-mobility.
It highlights practical techniques such as cavity resonance analysis and current probe measurements, as well as the implementation of standards in modern test environments.
Core electromagnetic concepts such as inductance, capacitance, and return paths are linked to real EMC challenges through hands-on demonstrations.
The importance of common-mode impedance and how test setups can influence results between laboratories is also addressed.
Please read more details after the agenda.

Program details
External presenters
Martin Wiles, Microwave Vision Group – over 35 years’ experience in RF, covering EMC, antenna measurement, and wireless testing, with a focus on anechoic chamber design and RF system integration. Over 20 years in international standardisation (CISPR A WG1 convenor, ANSI C63.25-3 Chair for 18–40 GHz).
Lars Buur, SL Audio A/S – R&D designer specializing in switch-mode power conversion technologies with a core focus on reliability, safety, and EMC compliance. High performance analog signal conditioning and precision measurement circuitry.
Radiated Emission Measurements – From Fundamentals to 18–40 GHz, Martin Wiles, MVG
Radiated emission measurements are a cornerstone of EMC testing, using a range of methods, setups, and antenna types depending on frequency and application. This presentation starts with a practical overview of fundamental measurement principles, including test environments, chambers, and antenna systems, before moving on to challenges and emerging methods in the 18–40 GHz range driven by technologies such as 5G.
Implementing EMC in eMobility / Electric Vehicles, Martin Wiles, MVG
The presentation will cover the implementation of key Automotive EMC standards into EMC Anechoic chambers including the testing of eV motors, eV Batteries and eV Chargers. Futureproofing for upcoming technology changes is also covered.
Measurement of Cavity Resonances, Lars Buur, SL Audio A/S
An investigation into an unexpected resonance peak in switch-mode power electronics. This presentation covers the diagnostic process of identifying this anomaly in a typically quiet frequency range and provides a simple design solution.
Current Probes, Lars Buur, SL Audio A/S
The use of current probes measuring common mode currents on cables in relation to EMI is widely described in literature. But how do the probes work? Brief description, presentation of simplified model and calculations. Measurement results on DIY probes.
Inductance, loops, mutual inductance, partial inductance and return path, Morten Sørensen, Force Technology
An introduction to key inductance concepts in EMC, including loop behaviour, mutual coupling, and the role of partial inductance in practical systems. The session also highlights the importance of the return path and its impact on emissions and coupling mechanisms.
Experiment: Demonstration of return path, illustrating how current distribution and loop geometry influence EMC performance.
Capacitance, permittivity, permeability and Maxwell’s equations, Morten Sørensen, Force Technology
An introduction to fundamental electromagnetic concepts, including capacitance and material properties such as permittivity and permeability, and how these relate to Maxwell’s equations and wave propagation.
Experiment: Sparks in a microwave oven, demonstrating permittivity, high electric field strength, and breakdown phenomena (Morten Sørensen, Force Technology).
Common-Mode impedance termination, Morten Sørensen, Force Technology and Kim Jensen, Groundfos
An introduction to common-mode impedance and its key role in EMC measurements. Cable termination can significantly influence radiated emissions, and differences in setup may lead to variations between otherwise compliant test laboratories.
Experiment: Demonstration of the effect of common-mode impedance termination.
Update on Standardisation, Per Thåstrup Jensen, Force Technology
No meeting would be complete without Per bringing us up to speed on the latest developments in standardisation.
