EMC Klubben: EMC-simuleringer. Aarhus

Kære medlem af EMC Klubben,

Hermed inviteres til april måneds EMC-klubmøder.

Vi har fået nogle henvendelser om  klubmøder på engelsk, og da vi får besøg fra Finland har vi undtagelsesvis valgt at afholde dette klubmøde på engelsk. På maj-mødet er vi tilbage på dansk. Vi vil gerne opfordre dig til at introducere dine ikke-dansktalende kollegaer til EMC Klubben.

We are happy to present two very qualified external presenters at this meeting. First part will be 3D full wave simulations in EMC and second part will be LT Spice circuit simulations related to EMC through a hands-on workshop.

The meetings are held as physical meetings in English and take place:

Monday, 15 April 2024 at 09.00 – 16.00 at FORCE Technology, Agro Food Park 15, 8200 Aarhus – meeting room 1

Tuesday, 16 April 2024 at 09.00 – 16.00 at FORCE Technology, Venlighedsvej 4, 2970 Hørsholm

Registration deadline for both meetings is Thursday 11 April at 12.00.

Introduction to 3D Full Wave Simulation in EMC

Anne Isohätälä, Senior EM Simulation Consultant at PLM Group, will provide an introduction to EMC simulation using SIMULIA CST Studio Suite. She will showcase a 3D full-wave EMC simulation workflow and demonstrate conducted and radiated emissions live.

With 25 years of experience in antenna design and 15 years in 3D full-wave simulations, Anne has been working as an EM simulation consultant since the beginning of 2020. Her role involves assisting Finnish CST customers in implementing best practices for utilizing 3D EM simulations in their daily design tasks.

In addition, Morten Sørensen will provide a crash course on the numerical methods that enable simulations, followed by showcasing everyday examples of simulations in R&D.

Hands on – LT-Spice Simulations Related to EMC

Content:Try out EMC-related simulations in LTspice as we dig into how to simulate input filters, input capacitor ripple in buck regulators, and use LTspice in combination with LTpowerCAD to look into qualitative expected conducted emissions, design a filter, and then simulate the results. If time allows, we will look at another real-world problem where LTspice proves why a linear regulator oscillates in the real world. IT permitting, there will be access to download files ahead of time or on the day.

About Nicolai: Nicolai Mahncke is a Field Application Engineer with Analog Devices focusing on Power and Signal Chain. Nicolai has a very broad design experience behind him with more than 30 years of active design experience within medical and industrial electronics as well as PCB layout. Way back he was even a member of the EMC Club

LTspice install guideline: Navigate to https://analog.com/ltspice and follow the instructions. If you already have LTspice, note that version 24 came out not long ago with many new improvements. The old LTspice17 will automatically update itself to LTspice24 or you can uninstall the old to do a fresh install. We will also use LTpowerCAD which can be downloaded here: https://www.analog.com/en/lp/ltpowercad.html. Both programs are available free of charge
