EMC Club: Standards, EU, the rest of the world and results from the LOW-HARM project 

The November EMC Club meetings are held as combined physical and online meetings and presentations will primarily be in English.

Topics: Standards, EU, the rest of the world and results from the LOW-HARM project.

The meetings take place:

Monday 2nd November 2020 at 09:00 to 15.30 at FORCE Technology, Agro Food Park 13, Skejby, 8200 Aarhus N
Tuesday 3rd November 2020 at 09:00 to 15:30 at FORCE Technology, Venlighedsvej 4, 2970 Hørsholm.

Deadline for registration: Thursday 29th October 2020 at 12.00 hrs.

Physical attendance: Physical attendance is reserved for members of the EMC Club on a first served basis.

Corona precautions: Due to corona precautions, we can only accomodate 20 EMC Club members in Aarhus and 30 EMC Club members in Hørsholm.

As mentioned, we will set up a combination of physical and online meetings. This means, that physical attendance is possible in Aarhus and Hoersholm, and at the same time, the two  meetings will also be transmitted via Microsoft Teams. We will use a camera and a headset in order for online participants to join the practical demonstrations, which are essential parts of  the agenda.

During breaks, we will stop the live transmission.

These two EMC Club meetings also represent the official presentation of the results from the LOW HARM project, thus online participation is open to the industry in general.

The LOW HARM project has been running for one year and is completed in 2020. Professor Pooya Davari from AAU will, together with Per Thåstrup Jensen from FORCE Technology, go through the project and its findings. The project is focused specifically on the coming regulations on conducted electrical emission in the frequency range below 150 kHz. We will update the status on these requirements and on the impact they have on the possible EMI filter design and the power converters in the future. We will show practical and theoretical results and Professor Davari will present the EMI prediction tool for emission and filtering, which has been developed during the project.

The project is funded by Inno-SE Smart Energy, a Danish innovation network which is currently transforming into Energy Cluster Denmark. We will also do a short presentation of the activities in this network.

On the practical side of power supply designwe are happy to present Mr. Runo Nielsen, Senior Design Engineer and self-employed with power supply design for decades. Runo will present his view on important aspects of power supply design and he will specifically focus on the differential mode emission versus the common-mode emission. He will present a self-developed tool in the form of a CM/DM LISN network and will explain and demonstrate this tool.

Finally we will have a presentation on the developments in EMC Standardization. This presentation is done by FORCE Tecnology.
