Theme
We’re ending the year on a high note with an exciting program in power electronics. We’ll explore power frequency shielding, the Supra-EMC project, and power supplies and filtering.
The Supra-EMC Project
This project focuses on strategies for supraharmonics electromagnetic compatibility in power electronics-based power grids. We’ll receive an update on key areas, including low-frequency grid impedance, simulation tools, and measurement demonstrations. The update will be presented by researchers from AAU Energy – Pooya Davari and Abduselam Beshir – along with Per Thåstrup from Force Technology.
NOTE: On 3 December the Supra EMC part of the meeting will also be held via Teams and is a collaboration activity with IEEE EMC Chapter Denmark. It will also be open to fellow IEEE EMC Chapters in Europe.
Flux Permeability vs. Eddy Currents – Shielding in the Low-Frequency Regime
Dr. Stefan Hiebel of Sekels GmbH, Germany, will introduce the topic of shielding low-frequency electromagnetic fields (up to ~10 kHz). Shielding at these frequencies involves a combination of magnetic flux redirection and eddy current displacement. The use of composite materials, such as soft magnets and aluminum, is optimized through empirical methods. The lecture will feature measurements, case studies, and insights into how material properties and geometry influence shielding performance.
Power Supplies and Filters
Henning Bomberg from Würth Elektronik Danmark will deliver a lecture on power supplies and filtering. He will explain common noise sources and methods for reducing them, along with an overview of different filter types and their applications.
We look forward to meeting you in Aarhus or Hørsholm.
Kind Regards
EMC Klubben
